Another week means another New Music Friday! SO MANY of our favorite artists dropped new songs today and we aren’t lying when we say that they’re all bops and no skips.
After taking a break from music in 2018, Lorde is finally back three years later with a new single titled “Solar Power.” To no surprise, the song is an absolute pop banger and it’s ultimately topping our New Music Friday playlist today (June 11). Bringing all of the summer vibes this season, “Solar Power” is also the title of her upcoming third studio album which is expected to drop later this year and features Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers on backing vocals with Jack Antonoff on bass and electric guitar (in addition to co-producing and co-writing).
On the inspiration for the album, she said in a newsletter to her fans, “The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”
