Niki & Gabi DeMartino have new music out and its more unfiltered than ever before.
After much anticipation, the 24-year-old twins are showing the world that they aren’t the young teens from YouTube anymore with the release of their new single “Hair Tie.” The respective music video was also released to their channel earlier today and Celeb Secrets was on set capturing some exclusive behind-the-scenes moments.
“‘Hair Tie’ is a girl anthem to get ready to go see your boy,” Gabi tells our reporters on set. “I feel like this is so different for us because we’re usually singing stuff that’s in the safe zone and right now we’re just like, ‘we’re grown ass adults.’ We need a song like this out!”
Niki adds, “What I really like about this song is that it makes our older fans happy because it’s relatable, but also because it makes our younger audience happy because who doesn’t like playing with their hair up. I feel like this song encompasses everything we were and everything we are, and everything we’re going to be.”
Filmed earlier this summer in Brooklyn, the girly music video shows a playful side of Niki and Gabi, dressed in super cute outfits with their real-life boyfriends playing their love interests.
“I feel like in the past Gabi and I cared what people really thought about us and we tried to almost win over a music audience,” Niki says. “Now our approach is totally different and this music video is really just us being us. I think we are just taking that filter completely down.”
“Hair Tie” will be featured on their upcoming full-length debut album which is expected to drop later this year.
