You thought you seen the last of her, but she’s ba-aaack.
Nina Dobrev is returning to The Vampire Diaries as Elena Gilbert for the series finale. Rejoice TVD fans, although this is the final hour for the series, having Nina return is definitely a bittersweet feeling.
We couldn’t imagine saying goodbye to Mystic Falls without a major character who’s been with us for six seasons, Nina Dobrev, before departing in 2015.
“I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended – with Nina back to help us say goodbye,” Julie Plec said in a statement.
Dobrev announced the return of her character on Instagram, by posting a photo of the series final script. She surprised fans by writing, “I know it’s Thursday, but this is not a TBT”, adding hashtags that read, “#BackOnSet” and “TVDForever”.
The photo revealed the title of the finale, “I Was Feeling Epic“, which is a line previously said by Lexi Branson (Arielle Kebbel) to Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) back in Season 1. Does this foreshadow that love will conquer all? Will Elena wake up and end up with Damon? Will Bonnie die with Elena’s return?
Whatever the title entails, we are sure it’ll be “epic”. And we’re with you TVD fans, we too are getting emotional bidding farewell to the beloved Mystic Falls.
Grab your tissues, the series finale airs March 10 only on The CW.
