Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez officially called off their big engagement plans.
After being together nearly four years, the singer/actress and New York Yankees all-star concluded it just wasn’t going to work out.
Although the news is a tough hit for all the diehard JRod/ALo fans out there, Lopez and Rodriguez clearly made this decision mutually and it looks like they’re staying strong for their kids amid all the turmoil.
The duo released the scoop in an exclusive statement for the TODAY Show. Published just this morning (April 15), the announcement shows Lopez and Rodriguez are always ready to help each other out even as they go their separate ways.
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects,” the ex-couple dishes. “We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
This certainly comes as a shock because a celeb insider leaked the details on how these two were ready to sort out all the drama not long before breakup news officially came out.
The secret source told Hollywood Life on Monday: “Jennifer and Alex are going to stay together” and they’re “doing their best to work things out.”
While it’s true that split-up rumors circulated the Internet like wildfire after the former couple held back their wedding due to COVID-19 and JLo was caught without her wedding ring, all signs honestly led us to believe it was nothing more than a rough patch. They’ve been making things work since 2017, so we really didn’t see this one coming!
Both Lopez and Rodriguez have been taking to Instagram where they share snapshots of what they need most to get through these hard times. Lopez’s stunning photoshoots clearly show she’s tuning out all the negativity and focussing on self-love.

On the other hand, Rodriguez just wants some more time with his youngest girls. Next to an adorable photo with his daughters on the side of Yankee Stadium, he wrote this heartwarming caption on April 14: “Every day, I’m grateful. For my health, family, friends and life’s many blessings.”
