Get ready to do more sad girl sh*t this summer!
Olivia Rodrigo just announced that her debut album is coming out on May 21st and is available for pre-order today.
Although the official date has been released, Rodrigo has yet to reveal the artwork, title, and tracklisting for the album. After dropping her latest single, “deja vu,” the singer/songwriter posted the announcement on her social media, saying “alsoooooo i f*cked around and made an album. i’m so proud of it. presave here. artwork, title, and track listing coming soon eeeek!!!”

Co-written with Dan Nigro, “deja vu,” is the story of how the feelings and memories from a previous relationship affect their future relationships.
“The concept of deja vu has always fascinated me and I thought it would be cool to use it in a song around the complex feelings after a relationship ends,” says Rodrigo. “I started writing and recording ‘deja vu’ last fall and had so much fun creating the different melodies and sonic textures that you hear throughout.”
The track gives us major Taylor Swift vibes, which doesn’t come as a surprise, seeing as how much of a Swiftie the singer is. But we are absolutely not mad about it! Just like her debut single, “drivers license,” the song is perfect for those long drives where you reflect on life and just feel everything.
Along with the track release for “deja vu,” Rodrigo also dropped the music video and it reminds us of a summertime dream and a visual paradise. Living her classic film dream, Rodrigo drives on the coast of sunny Malibu while eating ice cream, and she encounters the “other” girl, who, in perfect “deja vu” fashion, mirrors and mimics the ghost of Rodrigo’s past self, replaying the memories of what once was, that seems to be done over again.
