Filipa is all of us when we say we’d “rather be single” than deal with some of the drama that comes with relationships.

The South African pop singer is speaking her mind by saying us ladies don’t need men (or a significant other) to be happy in life with the release of her song “Rather Be Single.”

“The dating world is so strange and demanding these days, which makes it hard to find that special someone who understands you, supports you and treats you right. When writing this song, I wanted to bring across the message that it’s okay to be single rather than being in a relationship where you’re unhappy and not being respected,” explains Filipa.

“A lot of people stay in relationships in hopes of the other person changing or finally being the type of person they deserve, which starts to becoming taxing on their own happiness and leads to more tension and heartbreak down the line. This song was my own personal way of expressing my own frustrations and emotions and I hope that it empowers others to face their own and stay true to their gut above all.”

Filipa is the type of artist the pop world needs right now – a young woman who is willing to own her femininity, strength and intelligence without apologies for who she is, what she stands for and what she wants to say and share with the world through her music.

Take a listen to the song below and let us know what you think of it by leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post.
