Love Ghost is unveiling their new single “The Scarlett Letter” today exclusively on Celeb Secrets!
The teen rock group — consisting of Finn Bell (Vocals, keys, guitar), Mya Greene (Viola), Ryan Stevens (Bass) and Samson Young (Drums) — is hoping to send a powerful and inspiring message with “The Scarlett Letter,” as it touches on violist Mya Greene’s misdiagnosis of autism.
“This song is about the struggle many children in America face being diagnosed, labeled, stuck in a box and over-medicated at an early age, thus forced to wear their own ‘Scarlett Letter’,” the band shares.
“The lyrics to this song were inspired by a personal experience which I felt reflected a current trend and deserved social commentary. This experience was the degrading, devastating, and humiliating experience of receiving and living with a misdiagnosis of having autism while growing up, which drastically altered my educational path, as well as the expectations of those closest to me regarding my ability to ultimately acquire independence, and opened the floodgates for lots of stigmatization” adds Greene.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Love Ghost, the four-piece was formed by 16-year-old frontman Finn Bell who demonstrates a maturity beyond his years with his soulful lyrics and arrangements. Despite the band all being teenagers, their raw musical skill creates a nostalgic triumph of distorted guitar melodies, heavy drums and emotionally stimulated lyrics. With a sound that’s inspired by a mix of old universal horror films meshed with iconic grunge artists such as Nirvana and Alice in Chains, Love Ghost are able to poignantly express both the hardships and joys of suburban teenage culture within their music.
