PRTTY BOYS Dish on New Music and Bringing “Pretty Boy Swag” to 2018

Rapper and producer Alexander “Spadez” Martinez is teaming up with vocalist and producer Johnie B to bring “pretty boy swag” to 2018 and we’re not complaining one bit.

The indie duo — who go by the name PRTTY BOYS — started making music when they were classmates at NYU and haven’t looked back since.

“We’re from completely different planets, but we both went to the same school for music business and production,” the guys told Celeb Secrets exclusively. “One day we just met in the back of class, became roommates, and started making music, which eventually led to PRTTY BOYS.”

While the guys don’t put a label on their sound, they do describe it as a blend of pop, hip-hop, and electronic. Writing, producing, and engineering every song entirely themselves, the two artists take pride in delivering meticulously crafted and radio-ready “slaps”.

“Ever since we met, we knew that we wanted to work together,” they said. “The original idea was to start a record label, PRTTY MUSIC, but then we started to realize that if we combined our powers, it would have a cool sound. The best way to launch this and get the name out there was to have our own artist project, which is PRTTY BOYS.”

The guys have been releasing new songs every few weeks, building up to their debut album The Juice Factory that dropped earlier this month. The debut record is a collection of tunes that may just as easily soundtrack blurry nights in West Hollywood as it might sunset cruises down the Malibu coast. “We draw all of our inspiration from personal experiences,” the guys told us. “While we never had any serious run-ins with the police, our songs are all about the fun times we’ve had in New York and LA after midnight.”
