Getting to Know Feelz: The Nashville-Based DJ Making Waves in Music City

Just because you’re in Nashville doesn’t mean you have to make country music. The town is dubbed “Music City” for a reason, as creatives from all genres head down South to put their words (or beats) to music that we know and love.

Feelz is a prime example of this, as the budding DJ and producer credits Diplo, Illenium, Kygo, and The Chainsmokers as his musical influences for his songs like his debut single “The One” featuring DeVries and his most recent release “Waiting For You” featuring Lena Luisa

“I really look up to Diplo, Illenium, Kygo, and The Chainsmokers,” Feelz tells Celeb Secrets. “They are the best at what they do and hopefully, my name will be up there alongside theirs one day.”

Feelz’s start in the music industry began during his years as a college student playing DJ sets at many of the local clubs and bars. After gaining hometown popularity, he began performing alongside major-label musicians and DJs from around the world, including Waka Flocka Flame, Slander, and Allison Wonderland.

“My favorite show thus far would have to be opening as direct support for Slander,” he says. “They are by far one of my favorite electronic DJ duos. The energy of the crowd was insane that night. It was by far the most fun show I have ever played.”

For his debut single “The One” — which has almost 300k streams on Spotify — Feelz was inspired by tropical house. The minute he heard DeVries’ voice, he knew that her tone was the one for the message (and vibe) he was trying to convey.

“[DeVries] had just a different style of voice than most singers I have heard. When I heard it on the track I was sold,” Feelz explains. “I do my best to look for not just someone that sounds like someone else or like everyone else. She was the perfect singer for this project.”

His latest, “Waiting For You,” is also a viral earworm, as the song has 275k Spotify streams to date and features fellow recording artist Lena Luisa.

As for new projects, the Morristown, Tennessee native tells CS that he’s got roughly 10 more songs to release, but he’s waiting for the right moment and some final touches to put them out into the world.

“I have around 10 tracks that are just waiting for funding, the final touches, and a release date. I do my best to always have a few songs ready to go so that I can steadily release music,” he shares.
