Q&A: Getting to Know Mila Nabours – Gymnast, Dancer, Actress and Now Singer

Mila Nabours is a name you should not forget! The gymnast, dancer, actress — and now singer — is making her mark in the entertainment industry.

The 15-year-old quadruple threat was a competitive gymnast up to the age of 12, who then switched to dance, which led to the ignition of her love for acting. Now, Nabours is experimenting in the field of music. She currently has three covers out on all streaming platforms, with new and original music on the way!

The young actress has also starred as the lead in Feet Of Fire and Nina Saiza which earned her multiple awards for “Best Young Actress.” But funnily enough, Nabours didn’t initially have any interest in an acting career. She was dancing at a dance studio, surrounded by actors, which influenced her to start taking classes herself, and ended up falling in love with the craft.

“The way I’m able to go out of my comfort zone to portray new characters is such a surreal feeling,” she tells Celeb Secrets.

With all these career paths, Nabours has had an incredible support system surrounding her. Her parents have inspired her and motivated her to follow her dreams, whatever they may be.

“Both of my parents are classical musicians, so having their input with music and every art form has been so beneficial for me,” Nabours says, “Since I was little, I’ve watched them perform live at concerts and have always been so amazed by their talent.”

Nabours talks with Celeb Secrets about her different careers and how they led to the path she’s on today. She also discusses her new music on the way and even shares a HUGE secret about one of her future projects coming up!

Celeb Secrets: Hi Mila! How have you been during this pandemic?

Mila Nabours: This pandemic has of course been tragic in many ways, but it also let me expand on my interests that I never had time for before, mainly music! During the pandemic, I started working on vocal training and also have recorded multiple songs in the studio, which are out now. Singing had been something I wanted to start pursuing long before the pandemic, and I’m so glad I got myself on board with it. As far as school goes, nothing much changed for me, as I’ve been online schooling even before the pandemic.”

CS: For people who don’t know you already, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

MN: From a young age, I was a competitive gymnast up until age 12. I stopped gymnastics competitively and switched to dance because of multiple recurring injuries, and have been dancing ever since. I competed for a while, also, and was inspired to start acting soon after joining my first dance studio, as many of my teammates were involved in the industry.

At age 12 I started taking acting classes, and that same year I landed my first lead role in the film “Feet of Fire.” Since then I’ve continued acting and absolutely love it.”

CS: You are a gymnast, dance, actress, and now a singer! Talk about a quadruple threat! Is there one you enjoy more than the others?

MN: Tough question! I would definitely say I love acting the most. Singing being a close second… the way I’m able to go out of my comfort zone to portray new characters is such a surreal feeling.”

CS: You were discovered on social media at the age of 12 by a casting director and landed your first film. Was acting something you knew you always wanted to do?

MN: It wasn’t, actually! I started becoming interested in acting when I started dancing at a dance studio with very versatile artists, who were also involved with acting. I started taking classes and from there fell in love with it. Before then, I would’ve never imagined I’d be an actress!”

CS: How is working on a set different from performing on stage? Is there one you prefer more than the other?

MN: Working on set I would say is my preference, as I absolutely love it. When you’re on set, you’re most of the time there all day shooting different scenes and working with new people. Performing on stage is progressive work, whereas you prepare something for a significant period of time and it leads to that one big performance. You only get one shot on stage. On set, you shoot multiple takes, and although it’s really important to be prepared when you show up to set, you have the comfortability of knowing that if you make a mistake you can shoot another take.”

CS: You’ve won multiple awards for your performance in your films Feet of Fire and Nina Saiza, which is incredible! What acting tips can you give for any aspiring actors who hope to put on a great performance like you?

MN: Thank you so much! A big note I would suggest is knowing the character so well that it doesn’t feel like you’re acting. When you know who the character is and when you put yourself in the situation of that character, the lines should come naturally. If you think about the way you say each line, it almost always will be unnatural. Before you start the scene, forget all the work done on the scene and let it go! You never want the audience to see you trying to say a line a certain way.”

CS: I’ve read that you’re currently working on new music right now! Can you tell us more about that?

MN: Yes! I actually have three covers out on all major platforms, and my first original coming out in the next few weeks. Writing and recording this song has been so much fun, and I can’t wait to release it.”

CS: Who are your biggest inspirations?

MN: My mom and dad! They are incredibly hardworking and supportive people, and they motivate me and encourage me every step of the way. I’m so grateful to have parents who are there for me, and I feel like having a positive influence around me really is a big reason for where I am now. Both of my parents are classical musicians, so having their input with music and every art form has been so beneficial for me. Since I was little, I’ve watched them perform live at concerts and have always been so amazed by their talent.”

CS: Outside of singing, acting, and dancing, what are some things that you enjoy?

MN: I love to go biking riding! It seriously can be so calming for me, and I bike pretty much every day – to my friends’ house, to get coffee, you name it. I also love photography. I find photography to be another great way of expressing artistry.”

CS: What is the first thing you want to do when the world opens back up?

MN: So many things! This sounds random, but the first thing that popped into my head was going to Six Flags Magic Mountain. I miss riding rollercoasters more than you can imagine. I absolutely love it. Another main thing would be working on set, as I mentioned earlier, I really love it, and I can’t wait for everything to open back up again.”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, is there anything you can share with us that no one knows about?

MN: This is something I haven’t really shared… but I am SO excited. I was cast as a lead in an upcoming TV show! It’s currently in pre-production right now so I can’t say much yet, but very soon I’ll have more to share!”
