Q&A: Sky Alexis Shares Her Favorite Memory from Being on ‘Emily’s Wonder Lab’

Back-to-school season is officially here! Even though we’ve swapped our lockers for our closets and our desks with our dining room tables, the excitement for STEAM hasn’t gone away.

While being at home, we’ve found ourselves now more than ever binging our favorite shows to help the time go by. Luckily for us, our two favorite things are combined — science and Netflix — with the new TV show Emily’s Wonder Lab that teaches science through interactive experiments that make learning fun.

In the series,  Host Emily Calandrelli guides a group of kid scientists through a mind-bending activity in her wonder lab, then does a more detailed demonstration of an experiment that deals with the same concepts, but is easier to do at home. From learning about non-Newtonian fluids and whipping up oobleck slime to witnessing acid-base reactions as you create rainbow bubbles, each episode has something for everyone.

Celeb Secrets chats with one of the show’s stars — Sky Alexis — about her love for science, her favorite memory from being on Emily’s Wonder Lab, and how she’s been staying busy at home.

Celeb Secrets: What do you love most about being on ‘Emily’s Wonder Lab?’

Sky Alexis: “The thing I love the most about being on Emily’s wonder Lab was originally learning science and having it be fun. As the show aired my new favorite part has been seeing kids all over the world do the experiments at home and having so much fun. I do go and look at the posts when I can and comment on them, it just makes me smile to see all the kids learning science and having fun.”

CS: Do you have a favorite memory from being on the show?

SA: “Ok I do have a favorite memory. Walking on Oobleck was hilarious and then we had a dance off on the Oobleck. I was dancing my heart out on the pool of Oobleck partly to win and partly not to be sucked into the blue Oobleck pool. We got very messy!! I also can’t leave out the Horse Toothpaste episode. The experiment was absolutely huge and we didn’t expect that. That was exciting.”

CS: The show teaches science through fun experiments. Did you like science before being on the show?

SA: “I do like Science as a subject in school. In the audition we talked about science and what we found interesting about science. I’m always up for an experiment or a craft.”

CS: Have you tried any of the experiments you’ve done on the show at home with your family?

SA: “Oh yes! When we were filming I would come home each day and walk my siblings thru the experiment we did.”

CS: Do you have any other exciting things coming out?

SA: “I have a movie coming out very soon called Let Us In, its a sci-fi horror. I can’t wait for everyone to see it. I also have been working on a project from home, which has been super fun.”

CS: How have you been staying busy during the pandemic?

SA: “I have been staying really busy. I am still working from home and when I’m not working I have no problems keeping myself entertained. I love to do crafts and play outside with my siblings.”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have any secrets (fun facts) about yourself that your fans (and our readers) wouldn’t know about?

SA: “Let’s see…I take school very seriously and I’m in Algebra 1 in the 6th grade. I have a cat who will only drink ice water and two guinea pigs, Fuzz Lightyear and Woody.”
