Riker Lynch is back with new music and it’s putting us in great spirits during quarantine.
The 28-year-old singer/songwriter and actor just dropped his spin on “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” under his project Riker and the Beachcombers and not only is it reminiscent of the good ole days, it also makes us want to bring out the tequila and make our own Piña Coladas.
“This is exactly what I pictured in my head when I first thought up Riker & The Beachcombers,” explained Riker during our IG Livestream yesterday. “We played it every night on tour so I thought, let’s just do a studio version!”

“Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” comes after Riker’s debut single “Sex On The Beach,” the National Margarita Day drop “My Girl Rita,” and the “lighthearted, breezy” tune “She Just Wants To Be Famous” – which dropped during Riker’s winter tour with O.A.R. The three tracks perfectly encapsulate Riker’s trop-rock vibes he envisioned for Riker and the Beachcombers.
“When R5 was sort of going on a break and [Ross and Rocky] had the song ‘Preacher Man’ that was leaning in a new direction, I realized that I had this tropical, beachy mindset that I love and I love everything in that category of the world. We kind of briefly got there with the tropical sounds in ‘Cali Girls’ with R5 and I was like, ‘there was so much more potential in this lane for me’ and I think I bring a lot of that vibe in myself. No one was doing this pure, feel-good, beachy tropical thing in young artists, and I just want people to feel good when they listen to my music.”
The official brainchild of the former R5 band member, Riker and The Beachcombers is simply a rockin’ beach party. It’s got all the feel good vibes of a great beach playlist, including reggae grooves with influences from O.A.R., McFly, The Beach Boys, and Matchbox Twenty.
“It was between Riker and the Beachcombers and Riker and the Rum Runners,” he tells us of the name. “Don the Beachcomber is the original founder of the tiki bar. A beachcomber is the guy on the beach with the medal detector looking for things, and I wanted something that had to do with the beach.”

More Riker and The Beachcombers music is on the way soon, as the singer/songwriter is in and out of the studio during quarantine working on new material.
“I’m going to record on Monday for the next single,” he says. “We’re going to try and get it done as soon as possible. I would love to get it out next month, but it’s just going to depend on how fast we can finish it up.”
His inspiration? His longtime girlfriend-turned wife, Savannah Latimer Lynch.
“She definitely [is inspiring some music],” he says. “I’ll be in the corner messing around with my guitar and she’s very supportive of everything. She’s been the star of every music video so far, too. We shot one yesterday for ‘The Pina Colada Song’ in quarantine and its kinda ridiculous and hilarious at the same time.”

“She’s in Colorado with her family and I’m in California with my family and we’re both very much missing each other but we’re loving living with our parents,” he laughs. “Married life is fantastic and I’m very fortunate to find Vanni. I’ve been around the world and I’ve met a lot of people and she’s just very special to my heart.”
