Looks like East High will be welcoming some new wildcats. Shazam!’s Asher Angel and Broadway star Andrew Barth Feldman have joined the cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (HSMTMTS) for season two of the show.
Andrew, who made his Broadway debut in “Dear Evan Hansen” as the lead, will take on the role of a French exchange student named Antoine. Asher, who plays Jonah on Disney Channel’s Andi Mack, will play Jack—a charming student with wanderlust.
The two will be joining the previously announced guest stars Derek Hough (Dancing with the Stars) as Zack, the new drama teacher at the rival high school, Roman Banks (Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen”) as Howie, a high school junior who works at Big Red’s family pizza shop, and Olivia Rose Keegan (Days of Our Lives) as Lily, an energetic East High Wildcat who’s secretly competitive.
Of course, all of our favorite series regulars will be back for the second season including Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, and Larry Saperstein.
Season two will follow the East High Wildcats as they prepare to put on their spring musical, “Beauty and the Beast,” all the while trying to win a prestigious and ruthless student theater competition against their rival school, North High. The new season will also include more original music written by Rodrigo and Bassett.
Though Disney has yet to give out a specific release date, the cast is currently in Salt Lake City for the series production.
