Sam Smith to Drop New Song “Too Good at Goodbyes” This Friday

After several weeks of teasers (an inspirational reminder to his fans that the album is well on its way, Spotify ads with his lovely face and “September 8” scrawled on it), Sam Smith has finally gave us a song title: Too Good at Goodbyes”. Get hyped.

Details about his forthcoming album have been kept under lock and key, but he did discuss it a bit during his label’s “Capitol Congress” in Los Angeles, CA last August. There, he told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe that he had written over 130+ tracks with his longtime friend and collaborator Jimmy Napes.

Smith’s album is slated to release later this autumn. His last release, In the Lonely Hour”, resulted in four Grammy Awards in 2015 and in the follow year, he won a Best Original Song Academy Award for Writing’s on the Wall from the James Bond movie Spectre.

Last week, Smith released a touching note to fans saying:

“To my beautiful fans, first of all I want to say thank you. Thank you for being so patient and for letting me have the past year to really escape into my mind & write music so freely. I feel so rejuvenated and have so many stories I can’t wait to tell you,”

He continued on to say, “Something is coming very very very soon. I am scared & excited at the same time. I’ve poured my soul and heart into this record. Love you all, & see you in the not so distant future.”
