James Bond films have been around for ages and have easily become well-known for their action packed scenes and theatrical music scores. With that being said, fans expect nothing less from the forthcoming Bond film, Spectre. The 23-year-old English singer/songwriter, Sam Smith, not only exceeded our expectations, but transcended his fellow Brits who performed Bond songs in the past.

He is not only the first British solo male artist to perform a Bond theme since 1965, but also the first British artist to have a Bond theme reach #1 in the UK. Adele‘s Skyfall and Duran Duran’s View To Kill we’re both iconic tracks, but neither one was able to get any higher than the #2 slot. His 5th single racked up over 70, 000 in sales and streams, surpassing Bieber‘s What Do You Mean. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, The “Stay With Me” vocalist admits that he did not expect the track to do well, let alone reach #1.

Check out the video teaser for Writing On The Wall. The full music video is set to be released on Monday, October 5th.
