Sidney Bird Opens Up About How Her Childhood Inspired New Single “Renaissance Man” (Exclusive)

Budding singer/songwriter Sidney Bird is starting off the new year strong with the release of her heartwarming new single “Renaissance Man.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has not put a stop to the “southwester darling’s” musical creativity. Instead of focusing on how much loneliness being in isolation has brought, Bird took the time to reflect. Her time of reflection led to the creation of “Renaissance Man,” which is dedicated to not only her parents, but also her future children.

“I spent a lot of time with them in quarantine and it gave me a chance to reflect on my childhood and how precious that time is,” Bird told Celeb Secrets. “I feel very lucky to have such great parents and I felt I needed to write a song about the family I wish to have one day.”

In 2020, Sidney released her debut album “Bad Timing” has been streamed over 1.7 million times and featured buzz worthy singles “Kisses” and “Wild.” The following year, Bird released her Big Heart, and she even performed live at Rockwood Music Hall at the end of the year.

Celeb Secrets: Congratulations on your latest release “Renaissance Man.” Tell us a little more about this new single and why you decided to release it now?

Sidney Bird: “Thank you!!! This single is about how much I adore my parents. So it is kind of a thank you letter to them and a love letter to my future family I hope to have one day! I was inspired to write it because my sister just had her third child.”

CS: How did you decide on the type of tune or rhythm you wanted to use for this song?

SB: “I honestly run with my gut, and trust that it will send me in the right direction.”

CS: We know that you are more of a “crossover artist” and it’s evident in “Renaissance Man” and your influences. Who or what was inspiring you sonically or lyrically when putting together this song?

SB: “Hmmm, definitely for this song “Taylor Swift” and “The Lumineers.”‘
