Snapchat is Raising Awareness on Mental Health with New Series “Mind Yourself”

Snapchat is always looking out for the well-being of the people who use their app daily, especially their users who deal with mental health issues.

And according to the World Health Organization, one in four people are affected by mental health conditions, meaning that a large chunk of Snapchat users (which reaches 90% of all 13-24 year-olds) could be struggling with their mental health.

To help raise awareness to the younger generation, Snapchat teamed up with Barcroft Studios for Mind Yourself — a new series on the Discover page that gives an honest look at mental health by raising awareness and providing resources to its community members.

“I’m very proud that we’re making this series for Snapchat,” Alex Morris, chief creative officer at Barcroft said. “Mental health is an incredibly important topic, especially for young people today, and it’s excellent to see a platform like Snapchat taking the lead on issues such as this.”

Premiering earlier this month (February 15), the social media platform has been airing new episodes every other day (including tomorrow!) and will continue up until March 4, 2020. Each episode paints an honest and intimate portrait of a young person suffering or recovering from a mental health issue. From OCD and body dysmorphia through depression and PTSD, the series gives a human face – and hope – to young people facing similar issues.

In addition, each episode will feature swipe-ups that provide viewers instant access to a range of mental health resources and information, including local services, which reflects Snap’s consistent dedication to the well-being of their community.
