On Monday, August 14th 2017, Taylor Swift finally came out triumphant with the jury ruling in her favor.
ICYMI: During a meet and greet with a former radio DJ, the man had sexually assaulted the pop-vocalist by groping her during a photo. After a long battle, the jury ultimately sided with Swift charging the defendant $1.00.
Taylor has been known to be a role model for younger women so to see her standing up for herself, and her beliefs just makes her that much more of an amazing person. She showcased that money isn’t the motivation, but doing what’s right is. Swift said in a statement,
“My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”
The Grammy-winning artist is now an advocate for women of all ages who deal with assault and to stand up for themselves. Her $1.00 counter-suit was “an example to women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating act,”
