Hey Wildcats! The official poster and trailer for season two of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series just dropped, and there’s more drama than ever before.
After the success of their winter musical of “High School Musical,” the whole crew is filled with excitement as they prepare for the spring musical. At the beginning of the trailer, it seems as though Miss Jenn (Kate Reinders) has her heart set on continuing the HSM trilogy with the iconic High School Musical 2 for the spring musical. But after an unexpected encounter with North High Drama teacher (and Miss Jenn’s ex-boyfriend), Zack Roy (Derek Hough), Miss Jenn decides to change the musical to Beauty and the Beast enter the East High Drama team into the ultimate student theater competition.
The trailer also gave us major deja vu (no pun intended) after hinting at another love triangle. This time, it’s between Nini (Olivia Rodrigo), Ricky (Joshua Bassett), and a blonde girl from their rival school, North High. Seriously, can it get any more meta than this? If you’ve watched season one already or read our post of 8 Things to Know Before Season 2 of HSMTMTS, you’ll know that Nini and Ricky got back together!
But along with reigniting their relationship, Nini got accepted to the Youth Actors Conservatory, a prestigious acting school in Colorado. In the trailer, we see that Nini ends up going to the school as she and Ricky try out long-distance, but it doesn’t seem like she’s enjoying her time at the school either.
Can May 14th come by any sooner!? We’re ready to see our favorite Wildcats take on another drama-packed season.
