In less than a week, The Maine will release their highly anticipated fifth studio album, American Candy. The record, which the band announced and has been teasing since early February, is another independent release headed in a different sonic direction from the last. Staying true to their roots, this record has a heavier pop influence while still merging their signature rock sound.
Since it’s announcement, The Maine have premiered two singles off the upcoming record’s tracklist of ten. Both have started to hit the airwaves and receiving play worldwide – including features on Kerrang Radio in the UK, RX93 in the Philippines, and Live 105 in San Francisco.
“Miles Away”, the most recent release of the two singles, launched with a fun lyric video spoofing off of the bubblegum album cover. The band, along with some of their 8123 colleagues and four-legged friends spent the duration of the video blowing bubbles out of gum while the songs lyrics played across the screen. The tune premiered via The Wall Street Journal’s exclusive stream.
Now The Maine is not only gearing up to drop the album in its entirety on Tuesday March 31st, but to stay awake for the entire duration of release day. In a throwback to one of the band’s most popular fan events, The Maine will be hosting a 24 hour livestream via Meerkat, something they haven’t done in five years since the release of Black & White. Fans can stream the band’s activities for the full 24 hours and follow them through the release. Local fans to The Maine’s hometown will also have opportunities to be involved in some of the activities the band has planned for the day. Among these local events include a pop-up shop at Tempe Marketplace where fans will have a chance to shop the band’s merch, watch acoustic performances and meet the band.
American Candy is currently available for fan pre-order in both physical and digital form. The band will support the release with a US headlining tour featuring support from Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, and The Technicolors.
