The Weeknd Confirmed to Perform at the 2016 American Music Awards

The Weekend has been confirmed to perform at the 2016 American Music Awards!

The news broke via the AMAs Facebook page with a super fan getting a tattoo of The Weeknd‘s iconic “XO” logo in an exclusive Facebook Live video that you can watch below!  

The eight-time AMA nominee joins previously announced performers  Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, James Bay, Fifth Harmony, Green Day, twenty one pilots, John Legend, Shawn Mendes, including special duets from The Chainsmokers and Halsey, and Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, and “The American Music Award of Merit” honoree Sting.

This year’s performance will be the third time The Weeknd will take the AMAs stage. He first performed in 2014 to perform “Love Me Harder” with Ariana Grande, and then in 2015 to perform his hit single “The Hills.” He is a two-time winner and is nominated for Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock, Favorite Male Artist – Soul/R&B, and Artist of the Year.

The 2016 American Music Awards airs Sunday, November 20th @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC.
