What Its Like to Attend New York Fashion Week – My First Runway Show

While I am an entertainment journalist at heart, I am obsessed with fashion. From ready-to-wear and shoes to handbags and accessories, I am always looking at the latest trends to see what I can incorporate into my own wardrobe.

I also forgot to mention that I’m a sucker for splurging on designer apparel and accessories, so when I scored an invite to attend Nicole Miller‘s Fall/Winter 2017 presentation I was completely floored. This would be my FIRST NYFW show and ultimately my first fashion assignment. SCORE.

On Friday (February 10), it was super cold in the city and snow still lingered on the ground. I bundled up and headed to Skylight Clarkson Square in Tribeca to pick up my ticket and see the show.

New York Fashion Week is everything that you see on social media. There are tons of paparazzi outside, a bunch of trendy fashion editors and VIPs, and of course the hottest celebrities onsite. At Nicole Miller‘s show, some of the celebrities in attendance included Sarah Barthel of Phantogram, Lindsay Lohan, DJ Pebbles, Gigi Gorgeous, Dorothy Wang, Gigi Grimstad, Morgan Stewart, Dragonette, Stassi Schroeder, Emeraude Toubia, Asia Monet Ray, Iris Mittenaere – Miss Universe, Becca Tobin, Madison Guest, Mikiel Benyamin, Racquel Natasha, Sofia Resing, Sydne Summer, Yonee, Zeke Thomas, Roshumba Williams, Pearl Thusi, Sami Miro, Margarita Levieva, Lily May Mac, Holly Taylor, Carol Alt, Luann De Lesseps, Storey Schifter, and Rachel Brosnahan. And then there was me, Juliet Schroder, Celeb Secrets editor, observing everything that was happening inside the venue like a kid in a candy store.

As much as I would have loved to sport clothing I own from previous Nicole Miller collections at the show, I don’t think summery dresses were appropriate in last weekend’s weather (lol). For my first NYFW show, I wore a Just Cavalli dress paired with Gucci jewelry. (Check out my look below).

Miller’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection explored the grit and grunge of St. Mark’s Place; she expanded upon this element with the Fall 2017 Collection further exploring New York’s darker street edge and digging deeper into the underground scene of the city. The collection angles darker with prints of barbed wire, chains and skulls, and embellished camouflage. These elements coupled with mythic symbolism and sharp silhouettes are an exploration of the darker edge of New York City.

My favorite look of the evening had to be the one below. In my opinion, it could be worn for any occasion and the top has just enough glitter and color to make the outfit really pop.

Make sure to keep a look out for the new collection on their official website.

Thank you Nicole Miller for inviting me to this fall’s Runway show! I can’t wait to see what in store for your Spring/Summer 2018 line!
