Last night’s episode of NBC’s Songland was absolutely crazy ride for contestant Sam DeRosa!
To no surprise, DeRosa truly blew away producers Shane McAnally, Ester Dean, and Ryan Tedder, along with guest recording artist Charlie Puth, as they watched in awe when she belted out the lyrics to the heartbreakingly personal yet universally relatable track. Shane loved Sam’s talent SO much that he not only worked with her to have Puth cut the track, but also signed her to his record label Monument Records. This makes DeRosa one of the few show participants to leave with any sort of industry deal and we couldn’t be happier for her!
“Working with Sam on Songland gave me a front row seat to her ability to write, produce, perform, and connect. I instantly knew I wanted to work with her beyond the show, and have been amazed by her depth and heart,” said McAnally.

Nothing has come easy for DeRosa, as she has been perfecting her craft for many years. Currently singed currently signed to Warner/Chappel Music as a songwriter, Sam has a #1 alternative radio and Billboard Hot 100 single, “Broken,” which is performed by lovelytheband. She’s also co-written Welshy Arms’ “Learn To Let Go” and upcoming singles with Madison Beer, and Ally Brooke, and even has her own climbing track “Baby I Know.”
