Miley Cyrus is headed to the Big Apple for the VMAs!
The multiplatinum pop singer, who just released her brand new single “Midnight Sky” on Friday, is the latest performer confirmed to take the stage at the 2020 MTV VMAs airing from New York City on August 30th.
Miley is a long-time VMAs fixture and storied performer, serving as VMAs host in 2015 and treating viewers to many unforgettable moments and performances throughout the years. She last appeared in 2019 for a powerful debut performance of “Slide Away.” Nominated for 14 moonperson awards over the years, the 27-year-old won “Video of the Year” for “Wrecking Ball” in 2014 and has performed four times (‘13, ‘15, ‘17, ‘19).
The announcement about Miley’s performance follows the news that Lady Gaga, BTS, Doja Cat, J Balvin, The Weeknd, Roddy Ricch, Maluma and CNCO are confirmed to sing some of their biggest (and newest) hits on the VMAs stage.
Last month, MTV announced this year’s nominees for the VMAs and to no surprise, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the pack with nine nods each, closely followed by Billie Eilish and The Weeknd with six nominations. You can view the full list of nominees here.
Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including “Video of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” “Best Quarantine Performance,” and more by visiting vma.mtv.com through August 23, 2020. Voting for “PUSH Best New Artist, Presented by Chime Banking,” will remain open.
