Though he is one third of the love triangle between him, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star Joshua Bassett, may have just come out in a video with Clevver News today, which you can view below.
Bassett did a fan Q&A where he answered questions that fans tweeted out – and it quickly turned into a conversation about his love for Harry Styles. And I mean, who doesn’t love Harry Styles, right?
But the “Feel Something” singer took it a step farther when he started speaking about Styles’ looks.
“He’s cool. Who doesn’t think Harry Styles is cool?” Bassett questioned. “Also he’s hot you know. He’s very charming too.”
When Bassett made his next statement, he sent fans in a frenzy with questions about his sexuality.
“This is also my coming out video I guess,” he said.
Now Bassett did not clarify further if he’s coming out as a hardcore Harry Styles stan or what he identifies his sexuality as but any route he is choosing to go, we support it!
His relationship status has been quite the topic of conversation over the past year. Bassett was famously dating his HSMTMTS costar Rodrigo and then broke up with her to date fellow Disney Channel star Carpenter shortly after. A trio of songs were released – Rodrigo’s “drivers license,” Bassett’s “Lie Lie Lie” and Carpenter’s “Skin” – and TikTok blew up with rumors and extreme analyzing.
While tensions grew between Bassett and Rodrigo, the pair returned to filming the second season of HSMTMTS, which premieres on Disney+ on May 14. Bassett fully released a self-titled EP in March and Rodrigo premiered “deja vu” in April. Her debut album Sour will drop the week after the HSMTMTS premiere.
If Bassett is indeed on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, we are so happy for him to be embracing his true self.
